The C47 is incredibly cheap and extremely useful, as is a wide array of clamps, in the machine vision laboratory. The C47 appears identical to an ordinary wooden clothespin. (I’ll let you in on a secret: they’re the same.)
For some reason, lost to memory, the clothespin was renamed C47 in the movie industry. Gaffers and grips carry a dozen or so with them wherever they go. They’re just so versatile.
The cost of a package of clothespins – sorry, C47s – is ridiculously inexpensive; almost below the effort for petty cash reimbursement. Try the local dollar store when you’re nearby.
